Ini adalah cerita sakainget sakahoyong. Tentang cara saya mendapatkan air dan menikmatinya, sejak dulu kala sampai sekarang.
Dulu, saya tinggal di kampung. Daerah Cijulang di Ciamis Selatan. Bukan daerah yang subur banget sih, tapi di sana hampir semua orang bersandar dari bidang pertanian. Air bukan barang yang gampang dicari di beberapa bagian. Untuk keperluan mandi atau rumah tangga, banyak juga yang pergi ke sungai. Bagi yang tinggalnya dekat sungai sih gampang pergi ke sana. Tapi buat yang agak jauh, ya perlu perjuangan juga.
Di rumah kakek dari pihak ayah, air sungai dialirkan ke rumah melalui pipa. Jadi kualitas air di rumah mengikuti kualitas air sungai. Kalau sungai sedang keruh, maka di rumah juga keruh. Kalau sungai jernih, maka di rumah tetap keruh karena tercampur air yang kerus sebelumnya hehehe. Susahnya kalau air sungai sedang dalam paras rendah karena air ke rumah belum tentu ada.
Di rumah kakek dari pihak ibu, air didapatkan dari penggalian sumur. Biasanya setelah 4 atau 5 meter tanah digali, air akan muncul. Bukan muncrat sih, biasanya seperti merembes saja. Kalau sedang musim hari raya, air ditimba dari pagi sampai siang saja karena biasanya sudah habis ga bisa ditimba lagi. Kami harus tunggu besok paginya lagi untuk bisa mulai menimba kembali.
Pergi ke Jakarta di waktu kecil, air didapatkan dari pompa tangan. Saya masih ingat bagaimana kami harus selalu punya cadangan air agar bisa ”memancing” air keluar dari pompa. Kesenangan saya adalah mandi dipancuran pompa. Tapi karena ngga ada yang mau mompain, ya terpaksalah pompa sendiri terus lari ke bawah pancurannya. Kalo pancuran habis, ya pompa lagi dan lari lagi.
Setelah saya masuk SMP, baru di rumah pakai pompa listrik. Kali ini galian pompa listrik harus lebih dalam karena sudah ngga ada lagi air di tanah yang tidak dalam. Lebih enak karena ngga perlu berlarian lagi dari pompa ke bawah keran untuk menikmati pancuran. Sayangnya, saya sudah ngga terlalu suka pancuran lagi, hehehe.
Sampai situ, air masih gratis. Tinggal pompa dari dalam tanah. Tapi lama-kelaman air habis juga dan kami harus bergantung pada air PAM. Bayar, sesuai pemakaian. Airnya juga beda rasanya. Tapi gimana lagi, kalo musim kemarau sudah ngga ada lagi air yang bisa dipompa. Beberapa kali pompa rusak.
Pindah ke Bandung, sudah biasa dengan air PAM. Tapi sekarang musim kemarau air PAM juga sering menghilang. Kadang kadang kalau kemaraunya panjang, beberapa hari air tidak keluar. Kami terpaksa harus bulak-balik kantor untuk mengambil air buat mandi di rumah. Untungnya kantor dekat dan tidak pakai air PAM. Kalau minum, ya beli air mineral.
Jaman sekarang, air memang makin susah didapat. Tapi begitu sekali dapat, banyak sekali dalam bentuk banjir atau tsunami. Harganya lebih mahal daripada bensin. Kata siapa, energi itu paling mahal. Mungkin yang paling mahal ya air ini.
Kata orang, tinggi permukaan air laut semakin tinggi gara-gara pemanasan global. Ah itu mah teori. Kalo ngga kerasa langsung oleh kita, biasanya kita ngga peduli. Iya ga? Tapi bisa jadi sih.
